Nantucket Cottage Hospital has launced a new publication called Milestones that focuses on the campaign to build a new hospital for the island, and is designed to provide an update on the project as well as celebrate the donors and volunteers who are making this historic initiative a reality.In this issue, we highlight the Hackett Family Foundation’s incredible gift of $6 million toward the island’s new hospital. Becker’s Hospital Review has named Nantucket Cottage Hospital President and CEO Dr. Margot Hartmann one of the “130 Women Hospital and Health System Leaders to Know” for 2015!

Dr. Hartmann has led Nantucket Cottage Hospital for the last five years. Her healthcare career also included more than 10 years as an emergency department physician at NCH. As CEO, Dr. Hartmann has led the hospital through a financial turnaround, and she is now trying to help NCH build a new hospital.

We were thrilled to host the Nantucket New School‘s preschoolers on Monday, Nov. 16 for a field trip to the hospital. The students visited a number of our departments, includuing the Emergency Department, Imaging Services and The Birthplace, where they got a peek at the newest Nantucket Native!

October was a busy month with regard to the planning process for Nantucket’s new hospital. On October 14^th, we began the schematic design phase of the project working with architects from Cannon Design. At the end of this process, we will have our schematic design for the new hospital with defined walls and functions. (more…)
