Social Services Offers Assistance With Medicare Part D Enrollment
The annual enrollment and change period for Medicare’s Part D Prescription drug plans is underway and runs through December 7th.
To get Medicare prescription drug coverage, you must be enrolled in, or join a plan run by an insurance company or other private company approved by Medicare. Each plan can vary in cost and drugs covered.
Nantucket Cottage Hospital’s Social Services Department provides one-on-one consultations for those Medicare recipients who wish to enroll or review their current prescription plan. Due to the fact that plans can change yearly, NCH Social Services Manager Peter MacKay advises island residents to look over their plans on an annual basis to ensure it is the best option to meet their needs. Thank you, Nantucket!
At the close of our fiscal year on Sept. 30th, The NCH Fund, our annual fund, hit our goal of $1.2 million. These gifts from the community support all aspects of patient care and services at Nantucket Cottage Hospital – everything from the Emergency Department to labor and delivery to Walk-In Care to radiology. We could not fulfill our mission to the island without The NCH Fund, so please take a minute to watch this “Thank You” from the hospital staff to the community.
Nantucket Cottage Hospital Emergency Department Wedding!
The Emergency Department at Nantucket Cottage Hospital is where lives are saved and today, it was also where two lives were united.
Amid a bustling Friday afternoon in the Emergency Department, Tessa Sandler and Chad Denton were married, with doctors, nurses and other hospital staff throwing makeshift confetti on the newlyweds.
The couple had planned a ceremony for Saturday at the Brant Point Lighthouse, but Sandler’s 89-year-old grandmother Arlene Sandler had a fall on Friday morning as she was helping to prepare the flower bouquets and was taken to Nantucket Cottage Hospital by ambulance.
When the family learned that Arlene had to be airlifted to a Boston hospital for further treatment and would not be able to attend the wedding the next day, they decided to hold the ceremony right then and there. (more…)
Welcome to Nantucket High School’s “Intro to Nursing” Students!
Nantucket High School students enrolled in the new “Intro to Nursing and Allied Health” class visited Nantucket Cottage Hospital‘s laboratory this week. The class is being taught by one of our own nurses, Jessica Douglas. The students tested samples of items at the school such as a hall pass, a bathroom door, and their cellphones, for bacteria. The students also learned the basics of taking a blood sample from a patient. Thanks for the visit and keep learning!
